Acupuncture Works!
HOW ACUPUNCTURE WORKS:
Oriental Explanation:
Energy flowing through the body is called Qi (pronounced - chee). Qi can be influenced and balanced by stimulating acupuncture points on the body. The points are located along channels of energy called meridians which to our major organs. Illness of pain arises when the flow of energy (Qi) becomes imbalanced or obstructed.
Western Explanation:
Acupuncture points are located in areas of electrical sensitivity. Acupuncture needles stimulate sensory receptors and nerves that transmit impulses to the brain. This results in the release of neurotransmitters and endorphins. Endorphins reduce pain and can influence the hormonal system. Therefore, acupuncture not only works well for back pain, arthritis and headaches, but also for PMS, menopause and infertility. Acupuncture has bee found to increase circulation, decrease inflammation, relieve pain, relieve muscle spasms and stimulate the immune system.
